Welcome to Success!
The dictionary defines success as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” Our “aim or purpose” for the youth at Northside is to teach them to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. We do this through teaching five life-threads: respect, wisdom, grace, destiny, and perspective. We focus predominantly with our teens on the last two, destiny and perspective.
Our “aim or purpose” for the youth at Northside is to teach them to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ.
Knowing, loving, and serving Jesus begins with accepting Jesus as your Savior. His offer of salvation is free to any who is willing to admit he/she is a sinner (Rom. 3:23), recognize Jesus’ finished work on the cross (1 Peter 3:18), and ask Him to forgive and save him/her (Acts 16:31). Once saved, we can begin to experience true success!
Knowing, loving, and serving Jesus is ultimately a heart condition but exhibits itself through actions (1 Sam. 16:7). Therefore, Success emphasizes the development of godly disciplines (2 Peter 1:4-8, 10). To know Jesus more we encourage Scripture memory, personal Bible study, and reading Christian books. To love Jesus more we encourage prayer and church attendance. To serve Jesus more we encourage evangelism and acts of service and encouragement. We encourage these with a point and award system detailed here.
